The Trixie Belden series was conceived by Julie Campbell Tatham in the late forties.  It is common knowledge that she wrote the first six books of the series, but when she decided to stop writing the books and Whitman wanted to continue, the rest of the books were published under the Kathryn Kenny pseudonym.

There is some information about who the Kathryn Kenny ghost writers were, but it is not complete and there is still much debate over some titles and who the real authors were.  Several of the authors are now deceased and it is unlikely that the mystery will ever be solved.
