Paperback Editions
This is the last edition published Golden Books, a
division of Western Publishing from 1984 to 1986. This edition is best
known for the last five books, numbers 35-39, which were first editions and are
now difficult to find.
Oddly enough, not all of the series was released in
this edition, despite the oval paperbacks being out-of-print when this edition
was published. The books list the entire series, at least up until 34, yet
not all were published in this edition. There were only 24 out of 39 books
published in this format and there seems to be no explanation to why the other
fifteen books weren't published.

There was a number 40 scheduled to be written by
Kathleen Krull (author of #28) and set in San Diego but the series was cancelled
before this was either written or published. However, there is an
unofficial #40 written by Melanie Kay Knight called "The Mystery at Mansion
House" and is only available in an electronic format.
The information provided here covers the books from
my own collection and is not representative of all the books produced at this
time. There were a number of reprints of these books so the title listing
may vary depending on which print run the book is from.
